Position Summary
Women’s World Banking seeks to engage an experienced research consultant or research firm for a specific project focused on understanding women’s financial inclusion and economic empowerment in Morocco. The consultant(s) will be responsible for conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research, with the aim of informing future financial products and policies for low-income women.
Roles and Responsibilities
The selected consultant(s) will be responsible for some of the following tasks related to a research project on financial inclusion for women in Morocco:
- Background research
- Literature reviews
- Secondary data analysis
- Research instrument design
- Sampling strategy
- Conducting interviews and design research sessions
- Moderating focus groups, Key informant interviews and In-depth interviews
- Fielding surveys
- User testing
- Transcription
- Qualitative analysis
- Quantitative analysis
- Drafting results write-ups
- Additional activities as they emerge
Required Qualifications
For Individual Consultants
- A graduate-level education (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, economics, gender studies, or related fields)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research, with a proven track record in research project management
- Experience designing and conducting research in developing countries (preferably with a focus on low-income women or financial inclusion)
- Proficiency in data analysis software: Stata, R (for quantitative analysis), NVivo, or Dedoose (for qualitative analysis)
- Strong project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (fluency in French or Arabic is a plus)
- A stable internet connection and the ability to work remotely (when not in the field)
For Research Firms
- At least 5 to 10 years of experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research, with an emphasis on financial inclusion, gender, or related sectors
- Experience using a variety of research methods, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, surveys, and impact evaluations
- Previous work in Morocco or similar markets, particularly with low-income women or financial institutions is highly preferred
- Experience managing logistics for field-based research (e.g., recruitment, training, and coordination of teams)
- Proven ability to deliver research findings in clear, actionable formats (e.g., reports, presentations)
- Demonstrated ability to work with tight deadlines and adapt to changing project needs.
Measure of Success
The consultancy will involve a combination of fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting, with a specific focus on:
- Women’s financial behavior and barriers to access
- Economic empowerment strategies
- Gender-specific challenges and opportunities in financial services
