Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Branding, Marketing, and Communications ( BMC) Consultant to lead efforts in building a strong brand presence, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and increasing visibility for our programs and impact in Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive branding, marketing, and communication strategies to amplify our mission and engage key audiences, including donors, policymakers, financial institutions, and our network members. The individual will also support and implement a range of activities under the BMC workstream, with a clear focus on impact-led storytelling, event-based visibility, and strategic partner engagement.

Roles and Responsibilities

Branding & Positioning:

  • Ensure that Women’s World Banking in Africa portrays a strong and cohesive brand identity that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms and communication channels.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality visual and written content that enhances the organization’s brand and credibility in Africa.

Marketing & Outreach:

  • Design and execute marketing campaigns to amplify the impact of our programs on women’s financial inclusion and the organization’s impact in Africa.
  • Develop strategic partnerships to expand the organization's reach and visibility in Africa.
  • Design and implement integrated marketing campaigns to lead development of digital marketing content and strategies, including SEO, social media, and newsletters to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Develop and oversee the production of promotional materials, reports, and multimedia content for Women’s World Banking in Africa.
  • Develop campaign strategies that highlight outcomes, learning, and impact stories.

Communications & Public Relations:

  • Develop and execute a communications strategy to effectively engage donors, partners, network members, and the public.
  • Craft compelling stories, press releases, blogs, and thought leadership articles to highlight program successes.
  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to increase media coverage.
  • Support internal communications to ensure alignment and flow of information across cross-functional teams.

Network Management:

  • Support communications with Women’s World Banking’s network members across Africa.
  • Develop strategies to deepen engagement and share regional learning.
  • Highlight Africa network member stories, innovations, and impact through content and campaigns .

Event and convening Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute workshops, convenings, and high-level dissemination events to enhance visibility and engagement in Africa.
  • Identify and articulate the initiative’s value proposition, impact narrative, and messaging framework.
  • Manage all event logistics, including venue selection, guest invitations, sponsorship arrangements, agenda design, speaker support, promotional materials, and branding.
  • Drive visibility and stakeholder engagement through events aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure seamless execution of events with strong pre- and post-event communication strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in branding, marketing, or communications, preferably in the nonprofit, financial inclusion, or development sector.
  • Experience working with inclusive finance, women’s empowerment, or social enterprise sectors as a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and storytelling skills, especially for mission-driven brands.
  • Experience in digital marketing, including SEO, social media, and email marketing.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
  • Experience organizing and executing large-scale events or convenings.
  • Familiarity with African in financial inclusion, gender empowerment, or economic development is a plus.

  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial inclusion concepts into compelling and accessible messages.
  • Proficiency in graphic design and multimedia tools is an added advantage.
  • Passion for women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion.
  • Strong organizational and event planning skills.

Measure of Success

  • Comprehensive Branding, Marketing & Communications Strategy
  • Messaging Toolkit and Brand Guidelines
  • A suite of digital and print marketing materials
  • 2–3 campaigns executed with KPIs tracked
  • Planning and execution of at least one major dissemination or stakeholder convening
  • Final impact and learning report on communication outcomes
