Four new leaders from academia, business, law and entrepreneurship bring diverse skills to the global nonprofit devoted to giving more low-income women access to financial services.
NEW YORK – Women’s World Banking has appointed four new leaders to its Board of Directors: Patsy Doerr, Martin Ihrig, Anjali Kumar, and Janet Truncale. Their expertise in growth strategies, finance, law, and leadership and diversity will contribute to the effective delivery of Women’s World Banking’s strategy of driving greater scale in providing access to finance to low-income women in the coming years.
“As Women’s World Banking embarks on its journey to reach 120 million women by 2022, these new Directors will help us continue to be architects of women’s financial inclusion and builders of economic possibility,” said Mary Ellen Iskenderian, President and CEO of Women’s World Banking. “We are thrilled to have such committed leaders join our Board of Directors.”
Patsy Doerr is an experienced speaker, columnist, thought leader and award-winning expert in the field of social impact, with expertise in corporate social responsibility, diversity and inclusion and sustainability. Patsy led the global corporate social responsibility, diversity and inclusion and sustainability functions at Thomson Reuters. In 2017, she successfully launched the ESG Institute, a cutting-edge resource and support center tasked with building awareness and understanding around social impact issues and metrics. Patsy holds a BS in Biology from Washington and Lee University as well as a Master of Science (summa cum laude) in Adult Learning and Organizational Development from Fordham University.
Martin Ihrig is an associate dean and clinical professor at New York University and an adjunct professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He is also the co-founder and president of I-Space Institute, an applied research and consulting venture that helps organizations create innovation growth opportunities. Dr. Ihrig received his Master of Business Studies from University College Dublin and his Doctorate in Business Administration from Technische Universität Berlin.
Anjali Kumar is the co-founder of The Justice Dept., an advisory and legal firm that works with entrepreneurs, executives, talent, brands and creatives in all stages of their careers and businesses, focusing on female founders in the areas of technology, consumer products, media, entertainment and fashion. Prior to co-founding The Justice Dept., Anjali was the Founding Chief People Officer and Founding General Counsel at Cheddar, a news network startup based in Manhattan. Anjali was also the Founding Head of Social Innovation and Founding General Counsel at Warby Parker, Founding General Counsel at Acumen, and Senior Counsel at Google. Anjali is the author of Stalking God; My Unorthodox Search For Something To Believe.
Janet Truncale is a seasoned business leader and a member of the EY Americas Financial Services Executive Board. She has extensive governance experience from her work resolving complex business issues with boards, audit committees and senior management. Janet previously served as the Banking & Capital Markets Co-Sector Leader and Initial Public Offering (IPO) Leader for EY’s Financial Service Office (FSO). She received her BSE from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and her MBA from Columbia University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and is a member of the AICPA.
