Position Overview

Title: RFQ: Design Consultant (Individuals)
Classification: RFP
Location and Duration: Work is on a hybrid model, where ideal candidates live/resides in one of our Advisory Services regions (Africa, Southeast Asia, India) and is able to travel to the field, when needed, with the project team to complete various project activities.
Duration of Consultancy: Individuals selected will be put on a retainer contract for at least 1 year and engaged on projects, based on needs and expertise, that span over 6-16 months.

Position Summary

Women’s World Banking is looking for Consultants with a background in human-centered design, design thinking, and/or design research to support our Advisory work in one of our regions (Africa, Southeast Asia, India). We are looking for experienced consultants with skills to support our market and customer research, design workshops/sprints, and with our overall project delivery and implementation. 

You will contribute to research, analysis, and design deliverables while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outcomes. The ideal candidate has experience in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and design documentation, with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment. 

Roles and Responsibilities

The Consultant will join the core project team to ensure high quality and timely delivery of project goals and objectives. 

Project Execution: 

  • Conduct detailed analysis of research data, including synthesizing findings into actionable insights. 
  • Create and maintain user personas, journey maps, and other documentation to support design projects 
  • Produce high-quality design deliverables, such as wireframes, prototypes, and detailed specifications 
  • Participate in user research sessions, including notetaking, logistical support, and recruitment coordination 
  • Ability to travel in field to support project team with data collection during research periods 
  • Test and iterate on designs based on user feedback and usability testing results 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., developers, product managers) to ensure designs are implemented accurately 
  • Assist in preparing presentations and documentation for stakeholders 

Other Tasks: 

  • Join project team and attend regular team meetings, stakeholder meetings, and presentations 
  • Collaborate closely with project team via hybrid working model (remote online and in-person) to deliver project milestones 
  • Provide general project support, including administrative tasks and ensuring timelines are met 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have knowledge and experience working in the financial services industry, international development, and/or social innovation space 
  • Have a background and experience in human-centered design, design thinking, and/or design strategy 
  • Have experience with developing and implementing design research methods and tools for customer research, user testing, and usability testing 
  • Have experience preparing, planning, and running design workshop/sprints 
  • Have analytical skills to synthesize large qualitative data into actionable insights 
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written); a plus if able to communicate in local language of the target markets 
  • Preference for individuals who have experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
