Bio

Sambit Rath is the Senior Regional Research Lead for the South Asia region.

He brings 15+ years of experience in research management, impact evaluations and applied statistical modelling. Prior to coming to Women’s World Banking, he worked at organisations like PwC, India Development Foundation (IDF) and Planning Commission (Govt. of India) working in consulting roles. He has significant experience in evaluation and research work in livelihoods, gender and social inclusion, education, and WASH. He has worked for clients like the World Bank, IFC, FCDO, ADB, UNDP, UNICEF, central/state governments and INGOs.

His research interests lie in inclusion economics, causal inference, and science technology and society studies. At Women’s World Banking, he leads the outcomes and other research work in the South Asia region.

He holds a PhD in policy studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Apart from this, he is a trained statistician with an MA in statistics.
